Wayfair - Search Exercise

UX/UI DESIGN | iOS & Web

The following is a proposed assignment for Wayfair.com's search functionality.

Our UX team has identified that the current Wayfair.com site search functionality may need improvement. Assume that you are on our design team, and you have been assigned this task. Your audience is a cross functional product team consisting of a designer, Product Manager, and an Engineer. Please complete the following tasks:

-Using whatever methods you see fit, identify user-centered deficiencies

-Analyze how Wayfair compares to other eCommerce experiences. Identify the where we may be falling behind.

-Show the process and rationale you used to arrive at your conclusions.

-Propose short term and long term improvements to the experience

-Use whatever methodologies, tools and applications you think make sense for this assignment.

-Please include whatever supporting materials that you feel will help illustrate your work and thought process (supporting research, wireframes, etc.)

Focus the session on discovering and solving user problems. Specifically, the problems that occur when users are interacting with our search functionality in our global header, or our search results pages.
